Here to Be Heard: The Story of the Slits

Sunday, October 21, 9:30pm at the Times Cinema
Friday, October 26, 7pm at the Oriental Theatre

Contemporaries of both The Clash and The Sex Pistols, the groundbreaking all-girl punk outfit The Slits brought a much-needed feminist slant to the hardcore music scene, pioneering the musical movement that came to be known as Punky Reggae and inspiring the countless musicians that followed in their footsteps. Raucous archival footage and interviews with members of the band track their career over three decades of existence, a rollicking chronicle of rock 'n' roll excess that made music history.

Bad Reputation

Thursday, October 25, 6pm at the Jan Serr Studio
Sunday, October 28, 9:30pm at the Oriental Theatre
Wednesday, October 31, 3:45pm at the Times Cinema

Ever since she burst onto the scene as a member of the iconic punk rock outfit The Runaways, Joan Jett has been a musical trailblazer. More than just her No. 1 hit "I Love Rock 'n Roll," Jett rode her status as a rock pioneer and staunch activist all the way to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Take a rollicking look back through her storied career, with candid interviews with Jett herself (as well as luminaries like Iggy Pop and Kathleen Hanna) combined with ass-kicking archival footage.
